Learn to Fly – Active Flight offers a Paragliding Introductory Course where you will learn the basic techniques of paragliding such as launching, turning & landing. You will be taught on one of our training hills. Weather being favourable & the student reaching required standard you’ll be flying solo on the second day. All equipment provided. Licence to Fly – You can do a full Paragliding Licence Course with Active Flight. This course will take you through all aspects of flying a paraglider such as landing, launching, understanding the weather, thermaling, equipment and safety. All equipment provided. Click here for more info.

Free Flying – Once you have completed a Licence Paragliding Course with Active Flight and passed all the relevant tests you will become a novice paraglider pilot. You are then free to fly solo from any novice launch site anywhere in the world, meet some amazing people and have the time of you life.

Equipment – Your equipment needed to be a paraglider pilot is very minimal by aviation standards, hence making the sport such a popular form of flying. You will need a glider (also known as a wing), a harness, safety and communication gear. We can have you fully decked out with all the equipment you’ll need to fly solo for around $5000 new, approx $3500 for used equipment. Once you’ve got the gear you are free to fly all over the world. Paragliding Licence – 

The Paragliding Licence Course is by far the most popular course we offer. This course takes you from being a complete beginner, having never touched a paraglider before, through to becoming a licenced novice paraglider pilot. Our small group size allows us to customise training to suit the level of each individual student. During your Paragliding Licence Course we cover techniques on inland and coastal conditions.

Tow Course – $350

The Paragliding Tow Course is usually conducted over one day. There is a minimum requirement of three pilots for each Paragliding Tow Course. Each pilot must provide their own gear (harness, glider, etc) and be a current HGFA member.

SIV Course

The aim of SIV course is to teach you about the handling characteristics of your wing at the edges of its flight envelope. What it feels like just prior to an unstable situation and how to make the correct inputs if it does become unstable. SIV should also teach you to recognise when a situation is hopeless and the only option is to deploy your reserve. SIV IS NOT designed to teach you how to fly beyond the normal flight envelope of the glider.
